Check back in 90 days!

I was out shopping in a ((GIANT TIGER!)) store with my mom and my 4 kiddo's yesterday.  *feel free to call me crazy, but I do bring all 4 with me*  They are usually kept in check with the promise of a cheap toy or treat.  BRIBERY DOES WORK!  :D

I've been eyeing the P90X for some time , but refused to pay 140$ for it, and I just suck at downloading anything that needs to be zipped, or changed from one type of file to another.  Well, I looked down, and there was the poor mans version!  10$ for a 10 disc, calender, meal plan etc etc.  It's called Supreme 90 Day.

eSo yesterday was Day 1, chest and back.  It claims to use muscle confusion for its results.  You literally go from one set of workouts to another, with a push/pull combo.  Lighter weights to heavier weights and a stability ball.
Day 1

It was fun, I broke a sweat, so I will continue.  I don't know if I will do it daily, or just on my non run days.  some days, I will probally do a combo of both.  I've enlisted Sebastian to join me some days.  He wants a six pack PLUS he's a TV/video game junkie, so I need to find some stuff for him to do that he'll enjoy.  BUT I know he does enjoy 'working out' with mommy, and it gives us great 1 on 1 time.

On our way!
Speaking of, I had him join me on a run the other day but he brought his bike.  I gave him the option of HILLS or NO hills.   He chose hills.

I promised him NO hills next time.  HA!  But despite the hills, heat and having to walk his bike up a few hills, he survived just under 5 miles and did not complain one time!!

:)

Ugh--HILLS!

Running, What's that?

I swear, I feel like I haven't had a decent run in WEEKS!  I've gotten out there, I've ruuuuuuuuun, but the heat and humidity has been overpowering!  PLUS the whole dog bite fiasco, I've had to find a new trail to run.  (The dog bite route was awesome as it was so treed, it was shaded, even if it was 2 in the afternoon.

Last week, I had a gentleman come running up behind me on a dirt back road, which terrified me after getting bitten.  We chatted while running which was a WHOLE new thing for me.  I RUN ALONE. But it was nice, and a good change, we ran till his turn around point and I carried on home. I was able to hold a 5:30 (km) pace, after already running 12km, having a conversation in 4000 degree heat! Ha.

Other side, I am soon going to have arms like Arnold if this heat continues.  Admittedly, my weight workouts had been kicked to the curb lately, but when it's this hot, and my 'gym' is in my basement..... ` IF I really want to run, I'm going to have to plug in the dread treadmill.

Pretty feild
Yesterday the heat was so bad, I actually used my cell and had my dad come and pick me up b/c I just couldn't do another 10km.

Found some shade! Stopped for a guzzle of water
I write my Personal Training exam in ONE month, which I haven't even opened the book.  I know 'how' to work out, and I have always had the ability to make it work, but it's all the technical stuff I need to get and terms.
Hope it shows, but been so hot, the rainbow around the sun
Love the sound of these roads under my feet

Running Safety

A few weeks ago, I was concerned about my safety while running and how much I may take it for granted.  I do run in pretty rural areas, and generally don't carry a phone.  I have had a man approach me 2 times, albeit 2 times with a three year span in between. HA!
I did purchase some pepper spray, but haven't taken it with me,, as it's been so hot, IF I am going to carry any extra 'stuff' it's going to be water.

So not even thinking A DOG would invade my personal space, today I was bitten while running!  It was a route I've run before, and it was an out and back, so I had just run thru there 20 or so minutes before. NO ISSUES EVER!

It was a hot day, and I generally run against traffic (as we should).  BUT the opposite side of the road was shaded, so I switched.  Thankfully, because being on the opposite (right hand) side, gave me a few extras seconds.  I was passed the driveway (it was on left), and on the opposite side of the road, and I heard very loud barks and getting closer. *I had my earphones in one ear*  I turned and saw this dog running straight for me.  I yelled once GET BACK, and it came behind me and grabbed onto my right leg, behind my knee. I tried kicking at it with my left leg, and looking back to the house, noticed a car in the driveway.  I was screaming HEY and OW.  No one came out.  The dog turned and ran back towards the home.  I walked swiftly farther from there, and stopped at the next house. I noticed their mail flag up and no car, so I stood and cried.  Very much in shock, I decided to look at my leg, it was really stinging.  It was puntured pretty bad, and purple.
I walked the last few kilometers home, in shock and mad.  Full intentions of driving back and giving someone a peice of my mind.  Etc etc.
I got back to my mom's and called my dr's office.  UGH, on vacation till Monday.  Then I called the police and reported it.  I was mad and decided I shouldn't feel afraid to run AND a dog shouldnt be territoral of THE ROADS!   I've had dogs bark before, and most MOST people have invisible fencing.  Just insane.
So then I had the pleasure of spending 2 hours in the ER waiting to get a tentanus shot. The police are supposed to follow up with me and let me know if the dog has had all his shots, and what the owners say etc etc.
Hopefully I don't need rabie shots!  ARGH!
